By Taxi
- Avoid taxi rip-offs (tourist traps): At Lisbon Airport there are two taxi stands within the perimeter of the airport, one at arrivals
and the other at departures. Avoid the arrivals' one.
- To avoid rip-offs: don't get a Taxi at the arrivals, go instead up the escalator to the departures and get a metered taxi outside. The taxis are plentiful at the departure-level stand.
- Also, if you want to make sure you are paying the right price in the Taxi, buy a "Taxi Voucher" at either the Tourist office at the airport (it's in the Airport's Arrival Hall) or at the Welcome Center at Praça do Commercio (for your trip back).
-
Cost: The fare on the taxi meter should read 2,50€ (daytime
pick-up).
- Outside the city limits, city fares are charged per kilometer (km=0,62 miles).
- 1,60€ is charged for the transportation of luggage or animals.
- Before taking a taxi, inquire about the fare (an additional 20% is charged for services on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and for nighttime service from 9pm to 6am).
- Be sure to ask for a receipt.
- More information about taxis: You can get more info and purchase a Taxi Voucher at the Tourism Information Counter in the airport's Arrivals Hall.
By Car
Car rental agencies have counters located in the atrium of the arrivals hall.
- Directions by car:
- Take the Avenida das Comunidades Portuguesas and turn left onto Alameda das Comunidades Europeias.
- Once you have passed the Sul-Sud(A2) sign, turn right onto Avenida dos Combatentes.
- Then, proceed along the Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian, turn left through Praça de Espanha, go pass the Estufa Fria sign and finally take Avenida António Augusto de Aguiar avenue.
