ABSTRACT
Starting from the first fuel loading in HANARO on February 2, 1995, the
reactor commissioning tests are almost finished successfully. All of the
important nuclear characteristics of HANARO except rod-wise power distribution,
are measured and the accuracy of design predictions are verified. It is
confirmed that the reactor performs as designed and that the predictions
by design tools have reasonable uncertainty for every nuclear characteristic.
The predictions for the reactivity worth of black neutron absorber and bundle-wise power distribution by neutron diffusion code deviate from the measured ones with understandable error trends. It is believed that tuning of cross sections for the absorber positions will enhance accuracy. The measurement of rod-wise power distribution and tuning of cross sections for the diffusion code are remained for further work.
