FEASIBILITY STUDIES OF PRODUCING 99Mo BY CAPTURE
IN THE IEAR-1 RESEARCH REACTOR

ABSTRACT

Everyday the production of 99Mo for 99mTc generators, becomes more necessary, whose proprieties are ideal for medical diagnosis. This works presents a description and an analysis of the production of 99Mo BY radioactive capture at 98Mo using the research reactor IEA-R1 in 5 MW and operating 5 days a week, referring to the use of targets, separation methods, total and specific activity attained and its limitations.
